Disney denies that the “Up” house in Seattle, owned by the deceased Edith Macefield, was part of the inspiration for the hit 2009 film. But, the similarities between Macefield’s house, and the fictional Mr. Fredricksen’s, house in the film are uncanny. Macefield’s real house is a 100-year-old farm house surrounded by skyscrapers. The new movie will chronical Macefield’s refusal to sell the place along with her growing friendship with Barry Martin, the construction superintendent for the company wanting to build where the house stands.
