Three people are dead after a train struck a vehicle on the tracks in Vandalia. The accident occurred around 6:50pm at the railroad crossing at the intersection of South 6th and West Main street, just before the Vandalia Halloween Parade was set to begin.

A St. Louis resident was sentenced Monday to six years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for a residential burglary in Effingham. 28-year-old Aaron P. Broadnax received the sentence in exchange for a guilty plea.

Early Voting Starts Today

State Unemployment Rate Falls Again
