With a minute to go Cumberland had a fourth and goal from the 4 yard line and unfortunately didn’t make it in. The turnover on downs was the end of a hard fought game by both teams on Saturday. Cumberland led 21-14 at the end of the first half, behind a 25 yard touchdown pass from Gabe Hatfill to Myles Gerhardt, a 18 yard touchdown pass from Hatfill to Connor Butler, and a 39 yard touchdown pass from Hatfill to Gerhardt. With 8:30 left to go in the game Cumberland would respond with a 65 yard touchdown run from Wyatt Brant to put Cumberland up 28-26, however Orangeville would respond with a 54 yard touchdown run of their own to go up 34-28 with 7 minutes left to go in the game. Cumberland then returned the ensuing kickoff to the 50 yard line. Cumberland patiently drove the ball down the field, however 3 big penalties would bring back touchdowns on the final drive. Cumberland would get to the 4 yard line but couldn’t punch the ball in on a Hatfill keeper up the middle. The loss drops Cumberland to 5-2 on the season.
