MATTOON, IL-(Effingham Radio)- A Mattoon woman was injured in an accident that occurred on I-57 on Tuesday night.
According to a press release from the Illinois State Police, the accident occurred on I-57 southbound near milepost 236 at 10:40pm on Tuesday.
The release stated that a vehicle driven by 33 year old, Rachel Pike, of Mattoon was traveling southbound on I-57 at a high rate of speed.
Pike then approached a semi driven by 35 year old, Judy Moore, of Tarentum, Pennsylvania.
Pike then failed to reduce speed and struck the rear of Moore’s vehicle.
Pike sustained non-incapacitating injuries and was taken to the hospital.
Pike was cited for driving while under the influence of alcohol, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and following too closely.
