DIETERICH, IL-(Effingham Radio)- It could happen to you.
Students at Dieterich Jr/Sr High School were shown a sobering message on Tuesday, May 1st when a mock crash was held at the school.
According to Dieterich Fire Chief, Ross Martin, the mock crash was held to educate the students on the dangers of texting and driving and drinking and driving.
Four students that are members of the school’s Drama Club took part in the crash by portraying the victims.
Of these victims, one was deceased, one was flown out to a hospital by helicopter, one was transported to the hospital via ambulance, and one was arrested for driving while under the influence.
The crash was held through a conjoined effort with the Dieterich Fire Protection District, Montrose Fire Protection District, Teutopolis Fire Protection District, Effingham County Sheriff’s Department, Heartland Towing, and Abbott EMS.
