EFFINGHAM, IL -(Effingham Radio)- Effingham Noon Rotarians got to hear the Story of Mike at their meeting on April 11.
Dr. Mike Sehy said he was asked by a fellow Rotarian recently about how he decided to become an optometrist.
That led Mike to speak about his background when he served as weekly program chairman.
Rotarians learned that Sehy was a part of some great St. Anthony basketball teams in the 1950s and went on to play in college and while serving in the military.
As a Bulldog, he guarded the great Govoner Vaughn when St. Anthony played Edwardsville.
Vaughn went on to become the first black to be a scholarship basketball player at the University of Illinois.
Sehy also discussed meeting his wife, Sharon, while serving in the Air Force in the Southwest, and his long career in optometry in Effingham.
Jacob Swan was the Rotary weekly student guest. Jacob is the son of Kevin and Amanda Swan and is a senior at Effingham High School.
Noon Rotary also inducted a new member.
Chris Koester is a local attorney at Taylor Law Office.
He is shown being inducted by Noon Club President Kaye Dent. Koester was proposed for membership by Rotarian Mike McCollum.
