(Flora, IL) -(Effingham Radio)- Two people were killed in an accident that occurred east of Flora on Saturday afternoon.
According to a press release from Illinois State Police, the accident occurred on US Route 50 at Heather Lane, east of Flora, at 4:38pm on Saturday.
The release states that a vehicle driven by 36 year old, Steven D Hostettler, of Clay City was traveling westbound on US 50, just east of Heather Lane.
At the same time, a vehicle driven by 44 year old, Jimmie D Vaughn Jr, of Flora was traveling eastbound at the same location.
A witness at the scene of the accident reported that the Hostettler vehicle left the westbound lane and entered the eastbound lane, in the path of the Vaughn vehicle.
Both vehicles collided head on and came to a rest in the eastbound lane.
A female juvenile passenger in the Vaughn vehicle was taken to the Clay County Hospital for treatment.
Both Hostettler and Vaughn were pronounced deceased at the scene by the Clay County Coroner.
