EFFINGHAM, IL -(Effingham Radio)- An Effingham man was rescued by local first responders after a kayaking accident yesterday afternoon.
According to the Effingham Daily News’ Keith Stewart, T.J. Schlink, 27, “was out kayaking with a friend when he struck a tree across the stream, south of the bridge on 1975th Avenue in Effingham County.”
Immediately following the collision, he fell out of his kayak into the water, before going downstream.
EDN reported, after speaking to Sigel Fire Chief Dave Koester, Schlink managed to climb out of the water with the assistance of a tree ha had grabbed onto.
There were no reported injuries following the rescue.
