Effingham, Ill. – Early Wednesday morning, Kenneth M. McKinney, 54, of Wentzville, Missouri was arrested for impersonating a police officer after being pulled over by the Effingham Police Department.
According to the Effingham Daily News’, Graham Mildrum, McKinney allegedly claimed to be a U.S. Marshal, while telling police he was assigned to the IRS’s investigation division.
In addition, EDN reported McKinney allegedly had a badge on him from the IRS before admitting he was not an officer.
Effingham City Police Department as well as the Effingham County States’ Attorney, Bryan Kibler, were contacted for further comment, however there was not an immediate response.
After posting $360, McKinney is set to appear in court on April 19th, at 9 a.m.
McKinney is being charged in Effingham County for the following:
- Impersonating a Police Officer (Class 4 Felony)
- Driving with a revoked license (Class A Misdemeanor)
- Improper Lane Usage
