The Teutopolis School Board met on Monday, February 12th.
At the meeting, the Board accepted resignations and retirements from teachers, teachers aides, and coaches. Resignations and retirements were accepted from Julie Probst as a teacher effective at the end of the 2020-2021 year, Karen Buhnerkempe as a teacher effective at the end of this year, Troy Bierman as a teacher, THS Fall Baseball Assistant Coach, and THS Spring Girls Track Coach effective at the end of this year, Amanda Charters as a teacher aide effective February 2, 2018, and Bobby Brummer as the THS Assistant Soccer Coach. Additionally, the Board hired and accepted volunteers for positions at the district. The Board hired and approved the following: Maria Tegeler as 8th Grade Girls Basketball Coach, Jordan Pals as the TJHS Science/PE Teacher, Elizabeth King as the THS English Teacher, Bethany Donaldson as the TJHS Language Arts Teacher, Rachel Buening as a student working in the Diversified Occupations class as a TGS Teacher Aide, Kent Probst as a volunteer THS Boys Tennis Coach, Jim Hakman as a volunteer THS Boys Tennis Coach, and Bob Schumacher as a volunteer THS Girls Softball Coach.
Also, the Board made moves regarding the setting of event dates and approving changes to the school calendar. These changes include the Senior Class Trip to Chicago on April 25th, setting the THS Graduation for May 13th at 2:30pm tentatively, and the TJHS promotion for Friday, May 18th at 7:30pm tentatively. The Board also set the start date for the 2018-2019 year as August 15th for teachers and a half-day of attendance on August 16th. Additionally, the Board amended the school calendar to include the snow day that was taken on January 12th.
Additional action taken during the Teutopolis School Board meeting includes:
- continuing with the ROE #3 Alternative Education Programs
- allowing a Trapshooting Club to use the school logo, colors, and name
- review district goals
- discussed textbooks
- heard presentations regarding building updates, summer workers, fan behavior at sporting events, FOIA requests, and the THS facility and public meeting set for March 5th.
