(Springfield, IL) — It’s 2018, and it’s time that all schools in Illinois have a faster internet connection. That’s essentially the sales pitch from a handful of downstate lawmakers who yesterday suggested spending almost 60 million-dollars on a plan to connect more than 100 school districts with broadband internet. State Senator Andy Manar [[ muh-NAAR ]] says high speed internet is one of the tools that students need to succeed in the modern world. The hope is to use 16 million-dollars in state money to leverage another 50 million-dollars from the federal government.
