Effingham, Il – Earlier this year World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) announced for the first time, their weekly episodic show WWE Monday Night Raw will be live on Christmas.
According to WWE.com, “WWE returns to Chicago with a holiday gift for the WWE Universe!”
WWE continued to say in their release that this occasion will be a first for the company.
In addition to the live show, WWE announced in a press release yesterday that they are taking it a step further, and broadcasting the first hour of the Monday night show, along with Tuesday’s Smackdown Live, commercial free.
WWE Raw General Manager, Kurt Angle, spoke to us about this momentous occasion.
Angle stated, “Raw has been a grand staple of television throughout history.”
“Now, for the first time ever, we are giving the WWE universe a nice Christmas present by airing Raw LIVE on Christmas night.”
He continued on to add, “I’m proud of this Company and the many talents that entertains our fans the whole entire year.”
Angle then went on to thank the crew who work behind the scenes weekly adding that they are the true heroes.
He is looking forward to coming to Illinois to make history once more.
WWE Monday Night Raw, and Smackdown Live are the the longest running weekly episodic programs in U.S. prime-time TV history with some of the highest ratings among regularly scheduled programs on cable television.
