- Michael R. Whitaker, 29, of Shumway was arrested by Effingham Police Department for an original warrant of aggravated meth delivery. Whitaker posted $2000.

December 8, 2017 - At 7:52 A.M. at the intersection of 3rd and the I57 ramp a vehicle driven by Ashley N. Holtz, 29, Edgewood, turned in front of and was struck by a vehicle driven by Mary M. Willenborg, 74, Effingham. Holtz sustained injuries and was transported by ambulance to HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital for treatment. Holtz was ticketed for Disobeying Traffic Control Device.

Mattoon Police Department

- The Mattoon Police Department arrested Roger D. Maulding, 42 of Mattoon on 12/07/17 for the offenses of Residential Burglary and Criminal Trespass. The arrest occurred at the Mattoon Police Department, and alleges that during the middle October, 2017, Mr. Maulding unlawfully entered a residence located within the 2500 block of Shelby Ave in Mattoon, and took items from that residence without permission or authority to do so. Mr. Maulding was taken to the Coles County Jail.

The Mattoon Police Department, with the assistance of Coles County Probation Services, arrested Darren E. Sanborn, 53 of Mattoon, on 12/09/17 at 5:02pm, for the offense of a probation violation, and for being in possession of drug paraphernalia. The charges allege that on 12/08/17, Mr. Sanborn was found to be within a residence located in the 1600 block of Moultrie Ave in Mattoon, and was in violation of his probation at that time, in that it is a term of his probation to not be present there. Mr. Sanborn was also found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia during that arrest. Mr. Sanborn was sent to the Coles County Jail.

The Mattoon Police Department arrested Tyrice D. Cassell, 28 of Mattoon, for the offense of Driving While License Suspended. The arrest occurred on 12/09/17 at 10:25pm in the 1600 block of Marion Ave in Mattoon. The charge alleges Mr. Cassell was pulled over by police while operating a motor vehicle, and was found to have a suspended driver’s license at that time. Mr. Cassell posted bond and was released.
