Effingham, Il – Wednesday Afternoon first responders were called to Route 37 and Route 161 for a multiple vehicle accident in Marion County.
According to the Illinois state police, Ramona M Oberlohr was driving southbound on the road was going towards the Route 161 intersection.
32 year-old Nancy M Kollak of Fairfield was driving westbound on 161 with passenger 41 year-old Jason S Carter of Kell, and they were both approaching the same intersection.
This particular intersection is a four way stop with stop signs at all four corners and a center red flashing light.
Nancy M Kollak first stopped his vehicle, and then continued through the intersection.
Ramona M Oberlohr was still driving through the intersection disobeying the stop sign and t-boned Jason S Carter in the passenger side.
The details of the investigation indicated “Both units spun with Kollak leaving the roadway and striking a utility pole.”
“The utility pole snapped dropping the center overhanging flashing red light to the roadway.”
After the accident, Marion County EMS took Oberlohr to Salem Township Hospital.
Kollak and Carter were taken to St Mary?s Centralia Hospital for care.
Mr. Carter was later air lifted from St. Mary’s to St Louis University Hospital.
Kollack was charged with disobeying traffic control device.
