Robert Eugene Nickels, 81 years old, of St. Elmo, Illinois, a loving father, and grandfather passed away on Thursday morning November 9, 2017, at his home in St. Elmo, Illinois.
Funeral Services will be conducted by Rev. Pee Wee Denton at 11:00 AM on Tuesday Morning November 14, 2017at the Kull Funeral Home, St. Elmo, Illinois.
Visitation for family and friends will be Monday, November 13, 2017, beginning at 6:00 PM at the Kull Funeral Home, St. Elmo, Illinois.
Burial will follow the funeral services at the Maplewood Cemetery in St. Elmo, Illinois.
Robert was born on February 7, 1936, in Otego Township, Fayette County, Illinois the son of Charles Clifford and Mary Catherine Strauch Nickels. He was raised by his brothers Kenneth, Charles, and Gary.
He married Thelma Lou Ledbetter in St. Elmo on June 27, 1953, in the home of Rev. Charles Simpkins. Thelma preceded him in death on January 27, 2005. Robert was employed as a machinist and a tool and die maker for different companies as Fedders USA in Effingham, Crane Industries in Vandalia and last Sim Products Beecher City, Illinois when he retired in 1998.

Nickels of St. Elmo, Illinois, 3 -Daughters- Penny (husband, David) Harrison of St. Elmo, Illinois, Barbara (husband, Kelly) Smith of Green River, Wyoming, Diana Nickels of Phoenix, Arizona, Brother- Gary Allen Nickels of Brownstown, Illinois, 2-Sisters-in-law- Loretta Nickels of Brownstown, Illinois and Sharon Harris of Brownstown, Illinois, 4- Grand Children, 7-Great Grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins and Special Companion – Decker at home.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, Wife, Brothers: Charles and Kenneth Nickels, 1-Granddaughter: Nicole Jane Nickels
