Effingham, Ill. – The Effingham Elks Lodge has been assisting children with special needs along with their families for over 40 years.
Through the efforts of The Effingham Elks “Handicapped” Children’s Committee, hundreds of thousands of dollars have been raised to help these children.
The committee keeps their focus on handicapped children under the age of 21 by assisting them with obtaining anything from wheelchairs to ramps, communications devices etc., and anything else they could possibly need.
In an interview with Phil Kaiser from the Elks Lodge, Kaiser shares how some of the recipients really show their appreciation for what the committee does to assist them with their financial needs.
“It is interesting, one of the children who was a recipient loves to paint, and she decided to donate 2 paintings for the auction, while the family donated a $25 Cheesecake Factory Gift Certificate.”
“We gave to her, and now the same family is doing what they can to give back.”
