Five people were injured in an accident that occurred on Route 37 and Walnut Hill Road in Marion County shortly before 6:00pm on Saturday.
According to a report from the Illinois State Police, a vehicle being driven by 24 year old, Quade W Coble, of Louisville was traveling eastbound on Walnut Hill Road and was approaching the intersection with Route 37. At the same time, a vehicle driven by 43 year old, Steven R Parker, of Kell was traveling northbound on Route 37, approaching the same intersection. The preliminary details from ISP stated that Coble failed to stop at the stop sign as both vehicles approached the intersection. Coble’s vehicle then entered Route 37 and t-boned the Parker vehicle. After the impact, Coble’s vehicle spun out of control and left the roadway into a ditch; Parker’s vehicle also spun into a ditch where it rolled over multiple times, coming to a rest upright.
The report stated that Marion County EMS responded to the accident and Coble, Parker, an unknown female passenger in Coble’s vehicle, 41 year year, Sarah B Beasley Knaak, of Kell, and 83 year old, Gloria D Parker, of Dix were all taken to Salem Township Hospital. Knaak and Gloria Parker were passengers in Steven Parker’s vehicle. The report then stated that Coble, the unknown female, Knaak, and Gloria Parker were all transferred to St Louis University Hospital for further treatment.
Charges are pending further investigation by the Illinois State Police.
