Effingham, Ill – Effingham County States Attorney Bryan Kibler will be the guest speaker at the Effingham County Chamber of Commerce’s November First Friday Luncheon on November 3. Kibler will be speaking on “The Major Changes to Illinois Criminal Law That No One Knows About”.
Kibler has served as the Effingham County State’s Attorney since 2012 As the chief legal officer for Effingham County, he is responsible for prosecuting all criminal offenses that occur within the county and for
representing the county in all civil matters.
During an average year, the office prosecutes over 300 felony cases, approximately 750 misdemeanor offenses (including misdemeanor traffic), and over 5,000 petty traffic offenses each year.
In 2015, Bryan was appointed by Governor Bruce Rauner to the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority.
This influential board is responsible for distributing over $100 million in criminal justice grants every year and for providing leadership on making the criminal justice system more effective.
Prior to becoming State’s Attorney, Bryan was in private practice in Effingham with a focus on criminal defense and family law.
He has also served as the Jasper County Public Defender.
Kibler is a 2004 graduate of the Southern Illinois University School of Law, and received his undergraduate degree from Northern Illinois University in 2001.
Kibler, who was born and raised in Effingham, currently resides in Effingham with his wife and twin daughters.
His twin daughters, Sydney and Madeline, are in the 6 th grade at Effingham Junior High, and his Wife, Jennifer, is a social studies teacher at Collinsville High School.
The luncheon is scheduled from 12 Noon to 1 p.m. at the Keller Convention Center.
