Robert Pendergast is set to appear in court today for a Pre-Trial Hearing.
The 58 year old, Effingham man appeared in court on August 22nd with the Public Defender and the Assistant State’s Attorney. During his August appearance, the Defense’s motion to continue the Trial was granted without objection due to newly discovered information. Pendergast’s Jury Trial was originally set for August 28th at 8:15am. However, the Trial was moved to October 2nd at 8:30am.
Pendergast was arrested in May following a disturbance that occurred on Edgar Drive. 53 year old, Corey Stice was injured in the disturbance and later passed away. Pendergast is being charged with Aggravated Battery Resulting in Great Bodily Harm, a Class 3 Felony and Involuntary Manslaughter of a Family Member, a Class 2 Felony.
