A Mattoon Man was given multiple charges following an altercation that occurred at 1:56pm on Sunday.
According to a report from the Mattoon Police Department, 36 year old, Anthony J Arnone was walking in the 2400 block of Broadway Avenue when he allegedly got into an argument with a senior citizen. Arnone then began to allegedly yell and threaten to shoot the man, while reaching into his own waistband. After the police were called, Arnone fled and was apprehended on Marshall Avenue. He then allegedly threatened a police officer’s family, struggled and spit at the officers, and bit one officer on the arm. Arnone was then taken to jail. He is charged with Aggravated Assault, Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest, Threatening a Public Official, Aggravated Battery to a Police Officer, and Possession of Synthetic Cannabis.
The Police Officer that was bit was taken to Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospital, where he was treated and then released.
