It was a record breaking night for the Hearts in more ways than one as they defeated Lincoln 63-14. Effingham got on the board first with a Terrence Hill 5 yard touchdown run with 10:27 left in the first quarter. Effingham added another touchdown on a 12 yard Hill run to make it 14-0. Lincoln would score on their next drive to make it 14-7. Then with 27 seconds left in the first quarter Hill would break open a 60-yard touchdown that not only gave Effingham a 21-7 lead but also broke the school rushing record. Bob Devall had the all time record of 3,060 yards which had stood for 45 years, until last night. Effingham wasn’t done however as they scored on a safety just some 40 seconds into the second quarter. Hill added another touchdown in the second quarter to make it 29-7. Effingham returned a kickoff for a 75 yard touchdown as well as a 28 yard fumble recovery for a touchdown. Effingham is now 3-1 on the season and 3-0 in the Apollo.
