A Vandalia man is now charged with attempted murder following an original charge of aggravated domestic battery. 48-year old Gregory M. Hill is charged with one count of attempted murder as information states Hill allegedly “with the intent to commit the offense of first degree murder performed a substantial step toward the commission of that offense, in that he, without lawful justification, and with the intent to kill the victim, did throw the victim to the floor and in doing so caused a spinal injury.” The count is a Class X felony and is punishable by 6 to 30 years in prison. Hill is also still charged with the one count of aggravated domestic battery which is a Class 2 felony and punishable by 3 to 7 years in prison. With the amended charge filed and entered into record on Wednesday, Hill, who is in custody of the Fayette County Jail, made an appearance in Fayette County Court where he was advised of the amended charge.
