The 2017 9/11 Honor Stair Climb was held on Sunday at HSHS St Anthony’s Memorial Hospital.
On Sunday, 75 climbers gathered at the hospital to honor those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. Among these 75 climbers, over $6,000 was raised for the National Fallen Firefighter Foundation. Effingham Mayor Jeff Bloemker, Effingham Fire Chief Joseph Holomy, HSHS St Anthony’s Memorial Hospital Chief Nursing Officer Kelly Sager, and RuralMed EMS Supervisor Jerrod Estes spoke during the event. Additionally, Tina Hauk, wife of the late Assistant Chief Brian Hauk of the Logan Trivoli Fire Department, was the guest speaker. Hauk spoke about the support she received following her husbands passing from the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.
Following the presentations, the climbers tried their best to climb the equivalent of the 110 floors of the Twin Towers.
