(Springfield, IL) — The weather did its job to help grow the crowds at the Illinois State Fair. Managers yesterday said just over 401 thousand people attended this year’s fair in Springfield. That’s up 15-percent over last year. State Fair Manager Kevin Gordon said this year’s fair didn’t see nearly the kind of rain that flooded out the 2016 fair. He also said the eclectic mix of concerts, including Pentatonix and Five Finger Death Punch, brought a lot of people to the fairgrounds.
