Terrence Hill had a big game to lead Effingham to the 50-37 win against Taylorville. Effingham didn’t start off too good however as Effingham was down 12-0 with 9:35 left in the first quarter. Effingham got on the board by blocking a punt in the Taylorville endzone. However Taylorville came back to score on a 2nd and 23rd to take an 18-7 lead with six minutes left in the first quarter. Taylorville scored again with three minutes left in the first quarter to make it 24-7. Hill however took the ensuing kickoff back 79-yards to make it 24-14. Effingham added a 35-yard field goal to make it 24-17 with 1:34 left in the first half. Taylorville attempted a field goal to end the half but Jordan McCabe was able to block the kick to keep it 24-17 at the half.
Effingham was able to tie the game up at 24 on a pick six by Kody Line. Effingham took the lead late in the third with a 1-yard quarterback sneak by Landon Wolfe. Taylorville however tied the game back up on the kickoff with a 65-yard touchdown. Effingham would take a 37-31 lead on a Wolfe touchdown pass to Logan Smith. Taylorville responded with a quarterback sneak of their own but a missed extra point kept the game tied at 37. Hill was finally able to break off a big 50-yard touchdown to give Effingham the lead. Effingham capped off the game with a Hill 10 yard touchdown and a McCabe interception with 1:23 left in the game.
