Robert Pendergast’s Jury Trial date has been moved.
The 58 year old, Effingham man appeared in court on Tuesday with the Public Defender and the Assistant State’s Attorney. During Tuesday’s appearance, the State’s motion for discovery was filed. Pendergast appeared in court again on Wednesday with the Public Defender and State’s Attorney. During this appearance, the Defense’s motion to continue the Trial was granted without objection due to newly discovered information.
Pendergast’s Jury Trial was originally set for August 28th at 8:15am. However, on Wednesday the Trial was moved to October 2nd at 8:30am. He will appear in court on September 21st at 1:00pm for a Pre-Trial Hearing.
Pendergast was arrested in May following a disturbance that occurred on Edgar Drive. 53 year old, Corey Stice was injured in the disturbance and later passed away. Pendergast is being charged with Aggravated Battery Resulting in Great Bodily Harm, a Class 3 Felony and Involuntary Manslaughter of a Family Member, a Class 2 Felony.
