(Chicago, IL) — Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner says he can understand why some people find a cartoon about TIFs and Chicago schools offensive. But he wants to move past the anger. The governor last night issued a statement that says it’s not his job to comment on every cartoon or tell people how to feel. The cartoon came out last week from the Illinois Policy Institute and tried to illustrate how TIF districts are hurting Chicago schools. Some lawmakers say the cartoon is racist.
