Two people were injured in an accident that occurred on Hwy 37 and Van Buren St in Watson at 7:06am on Thursday.
According to a report from the Effingham County Sheriff’s Department, 52 year old, Patricia K Wright, of St Elmo was traveling westbound on Route 37 in a car, while 58 year old, Jeffrey Hanner, of Fithian was traveling northbound on Van Buren St in a tow truck. Wright failed to stop at the intersection and struck the side of Hanner’s truck. Upon impact, Wright spun to the left, coming to a rest facing south and blocking both lanes of traffic. Hanner continued a half a block west and then pulled off of the road. Wright and her passenger 20 year old, Joplin J Boothby, of Charleston were taken to HSHS St Anthony’s Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Patricia Wright was ticketed for failure to yield at an intersection.
All persons listed are innocent until proven guilty in the court of law.
