Three people were injured in an accident that occurred on US Route 40, at 1950th Street in Fayette County at 12:34pm on Monday.
According to a report from the Illinois State Police, 62 year old, Sharon A Durbin, of St Elmo had pulled away from a private drive located at the intersection of US 40 and 1950th street, causing oncoming eastbound traffic to rapidly slow to avoid a collision. At the same time, three motorcycles being ridden by 56 year old,Patrick Lynch, 56 year old, Christopher Robinson, and 52 year old, Paul Ozog, all of Southfield, were attempting to pass the rearmost vehicle in the slowed eastbound traffic. The three then saw Durbin in the westbound lane and the front motorcycle attempted to slow down. He lost control and fell over onto the pavement. The other two motorcycles struck the first motorcycle and fell over as well. The three skidded down the pavement, coming to a rest in the north ditch. The three men were taken to Fayette County Hospital for treatment.
Patrick Lynch was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Christopher Robinson and Paul Ozog were ticketed for following too closely. Sharon Durbin was ticketed for failure to yield at a private drive.
