Two people were injured in an accident that occurred on Route 37, approximately 1 mile north of Mason, at 3:48pm on Thursday.
According to a report from the Illinois State Police, 51 year old, Kent A Keppler, of Farina was traveling southbound on Route 37, just north of Mason. A witness reported to police that Keppler drifted into the northbound lane of Route 37, into the path of 31 year old, Bryan K Jones, of Effingham. Jones attempted to enter the southbound lane to avoid a crash, but Keppler swerved back into the southbound lane and struck Jones’ vehicle head-on. Keppler was airlifted to Carle Hospital from the scene of the accident, while Jones was taken to HSHS St Anthony’s Memorial Hospital where he was then airlifted to Carle Hospital.
Kent Keppler was ticketed for improper lane usage.
