An Effingham man was recently hired as a full-time deputy with the Effingham County Sheriff’s Department.
The Sheriff’s Department announced on Tuesday that they hired Cody A. Hartke to be a full-time deputy. Hartke was born in Effingham County and is a graduate of Effingham High School, Lakeland College, and Eastern Illinois University.
Hartke was hired by the Sheriff’s Department in June of 2012 as a part-time correctional officer, also serving as a court bailiff, full-time telecommunicator, and part-time deputy. He also also served as a part-time officer for the Altamont Police Department and as a full-time officer with the Neoga Police Department most recently. He currently resides in rural Effingham with his fiance Lia and their son, Hayden.
