(Springfield, IL) — Universities in Illinois say they must have a state budget to keep their accreditation. Southern Illinois University-Carbondale President Randy Dunn said without accreditation degrees from schools in the state will be worth less, and some schools may close. The Higher Learning Commission, which handles accreditation, told schools earlier this summer that despite Illinois’ budget woes that universities are still expected to have a full faculty, campus, and academic life.
