June 26, 2017
- 26 year old, Romeo Shumaker, of Mason was arrested by the Effingham Police Department for criminal damage to property over $300.
- 52 year old, Shawn D. Fender, of Altamont was arrested by the Altamont Police Department on an Effingham County failure to appear/pay warrant for driving while under the influence of alcohol, a civil Effingham County attachment for contempt, a civil charge of possession of drug equipment, and a civil charge of possession of cannabis. Fender posted $925 and was released.

June 23, 2017
- At 4:00am east of the intersection of Maple and Linden, a vehicle driven by 23 year old, Christopher J. Mathews, of Effingham struck the curb, left the roadway, and then struck and damaged a sign owned by Sports Graphics & Design. No injuries or citations were reported.
- At 9:31am at the intersection of Keller and Evergreen, a vehicle driven by 20 year old, Devin E. Sullens, of Clay City rear-ended a vehicle driven by 69 year old, Gary R. Wachtel, of Altamont. No injuries or citations were reported.
- At 12:45pm at the intersection of Banker and Hoffman, a vehicle driven by 20 year old, Darienne R. Lester, of Newton struck a vehicle driven by 38 year old, Sarah L. Davison, of Brownstown. No injuries or citations were reported.
- At 1:28pm at the intersection of Ford and Charlotte, a vehicle driven by 72 year old, Fred Cole, of Vandalia struck a vehicle driven by 52 year old, Cathy K. Flowers, of Altamont. No injuries or citations were reported.

- At 9:45am at 1701 W. Evergreen, a semi driven by 55 year old, Carl J. Davidson, of Amherst, Nova Scotia, Canada struck a parked semi owned by Schneider National Carriers, of Green Bay, Wisconsin. No injuries or citations were reported.
- At 4:00pm at 1204 Ave of Mid America, a vehicle driven by 43 year old, Justin L. Virden, of Ramsey struck a parked vehicle owned by Shelby Oldham, of Xenia. No injuries were reported. Virden was ticketed for false report and failure to report damage to unattended vehicle.

June 22, 2017
- Clay County Sheriff’s Deputy arrested Kenneth W. Hawks, 51, Louisville, on an outstanding Clay County warrant for Failure to Appear on the original charge of Aggravated Battery. Bond set at $2,000.00 (10%), plus $75.00 warrant fee. He posted bond and was released.
- Chelsea Sipes, 32, Shumay, was arrested on an outstanding Clay County warrant for Violation of Bond. She is currently incarcerated in the Effingham County Jail pending charges there. Sipes has no bond in Clay County.

- Clay County Sheriff’s Deputy arrested Richard D. Hampton, 44, Louisville, on an outstanding Clay County warrant for Violation of Bond. Hampton does not have a bond. He is currently incarcerated in the Clay County Jail.

- Clay County Sheriff’s Office arrested Henry C. Keller, 42, Flora, on an outstanding Clay County warrant for Failure to Appear on the original charge of Retail Theft. Bond set at $2,000.00 (10%), plus $75.00 warrant fee. He is currently incarcerated in the Clay County Jail.

June 12, 2017
- the Clay County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a motor vehicle accident at 6:30 p.m. east of the intersection of Ivory Lane and Old Bible Grove Lane. Apparently Jason H. Gill, 31, Louisville, operating a 2004 Pontiac was traveling west on Ivory Lane when he lost control of his vehicle, left the roadway to the south and came to rest in the east ditch. Gill was cited for Leaving the Scene of an accident and Improper Lane Usage. He was given a Notice to Appear in Clay County Court and released.

- the Clay County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a motor vehicle accident at 9:20 a.m. at the Casey’s Parking Lot in Louisville. Apparently a 17 year old female, operating a 2013 Honda Civic was preparing to park and William J. Wilke, 65, Louisville, operating a 2003 Chevolet was backing from a parking spot and did not see the Honda Civic and struck the vehicle. No injuries reported.

- the Clay County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a motor vehicle accident at 9:01 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 50 and Sunset Road in Clay City. Apparently, Jessica R. Phillips, 27, Ingraham, operating a 2010 Chevrolet was travelling east on Hwy 50, when she attempted to pass a 1987 Ford Pick up operated by Amanda Woods, 35, Flora, when the Woods vehicle turned north colliding with the Phillips vehicle. Woods was cited for Operating Uninsured Motor Vehicle. No injuries reported.

- 38 year old, Amy J. Grider, of Mattoon was arrested for Criminal Trespass to Property. Grider was taken to jail.
June 25, 2017
- 36 year old, Matthew J. Vaughn, of Mattoon was arrested for Domestic Battery and Violation of an Order of Protection. Vaughn was taken to jail.
- 18 year old, William M. Gibson, of Mattoon was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Equipment. Gibson was taken to jail.
