The 2017 recipient of the Delbert and Maradyl Facklam Scholarship was recently announced.
Garrett Hartke was awarded the $850 scholarship. He plans to further his education at Lake Land College majoring in Agriculture Production.
The scholarship was created by the late Delbert Facklam to offer a higher education opportunity to Teutopolis High School graduates. This scholarship is offered in the memory of the High School Faculty and Class of 1939. Born in Stewardson, Facklam attended St. Michael School in Sigel until his Senior Year, which he attended at Teutopolis High School. Facklam retired from the US Navy in California but never forgot the area where he spent his early years.
