(Springfield, IL) — A downstate lawmaker wants a new law to keep lawmakers at the Capitol until they have a budget. State Senator Sam McCann introduced the plan after lawmakers left the Statehouse at the end of May without a budget. McCann’s plan would require lawmakers and the governor to be at the Capitol for ten hours a day, six days a week until there is a budget. The proposal doesn’t talk about the 40-thousand-dollars a day it costs to have the Legislature in session.
