An Effingham resident was injured in an accident that occurred on I-57 southbound, two miles north of Effingham, shortly before 1:00pm on Saturday.
According to a report from the Illinois State Police, 72 year old, Charles J. Wozniak, of Metuchen, New Jersey was driving a semi, towing a semi-trailer in the right lane of I-57 s/b at a slow rate of speed. 32 year old, Kelby L. Williams, of Effingham came up behind Wozniak and did not realize that Wozniak was traveling at a slow rate of speed. Williams then swerved into the left lane to avoid hitting Wozniak. The front-right side of Williams’ vehicle struck the rear-left side of the trailer being towed by Wozniak. Williams came to a rest in the median. Williams was transported to HSHS St Anthony’s Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Kelby Williams is being charged with violating minimum speed regulations.
All persons listed are innocent until proven guilty in the court of law.
