A deer caused two accidents on IL Highway 33, approximately a quarter of a mile east of IL Highway 32, before 9:00pm on Friday.
According to a press release from the Effingham County Sheriff’s Department, 30 year old, Marjorie N. Mugrage, of Shumway was traveling westbound in a Ford Focus on HWY 33 when a deer entered the roadway from the north. Mugrage struck the deer. At the same time 42 year old, Gregory M. Lueken, of Effingham was traveling eastbound on a motorcycle on HWY 33. The deer entered the eastbound, into Lueken’s path. Lueken then struck the deer.
Marjorie Mugrage and her passenger, an 11 year old juvenile, were transported to HSHS St Anthony’s Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-incapacitating injuries. Gregory Lueken and his passenger, a 13 year old juvenile, were transported to HSHS St Anthony’s Memorial Hospital for treatment of incapacitating injuries.
