A Newton man was killed in an accident that occurred at the intersection of IL Route 130 and Cherry Street in Olney shortly before 10:00pm on Sunday.
According to a report from the Illinois State Police, 37 year old, Annette King, of Olney was traveling north on Il Route 130 near Cherry Street. At the same time 48 year old, Timothy Eads, of Newton was leaving work and was walking across IL 130, which does not have a crosswalk and did not see King. According to the Illinois State Police, King stated that she did not see Eads and struck him in the roadway. The ISP noted that the roadway was dark and that Eads was wearing dark, non-reflective clothing.
Eads was taken to Richland Memorial Hospital and was later transported to Deaconess Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased upon arrival at the hospital. The scene of the accident was investigated by the Illinois State Police District 12 and the Illinois State Police Traffic Crash Reconstructionist, with assistance from the Richland County Sheriff’s Office and the Olney Police Department. The investigation is on going.
