Lake Land College’s Navigator News recently won big at the Illinois Community College Journalism Association conference that was held at Lewis and Clark Community College.
The student-run newspaper, which contains news, features, sports, entertainment, and upcoming events, won nine awards at the conference.
- Derby Roan, of Mattoon, won 2nd place for front page design
- Allison Wheeler, of Bethany, won 2nd place for front page design
- Tamesha Moss, of Mattoon, won 2nd place for front page design
- Tamesha Moss also won 3rd place for headline
- Dalton Kemper, of Teutopolis, won 3rd place for a sports column
- Bailey Zacha, of Beecher City, won 3rd place for a sports photo
- The whole staff won a 3rd place award for website and a 3rd place award for advertising.
- Bailey Rueff, of Cowden, received an honorable mention for a news story
