Through partnership with Clay County Hospital, former WWE champion, Marc Mero is holding a drug awareness event at Oil Belt Christian Service Camp in Flora at 6:00pm tonight. Mero also spoke to schools in the Clay County area.
Following an accident, Mero’s career was put on the sideline as he rebelled and committed substance abuse. Even while Mero was at the height of his success as a professional wrestler, he continued to make bad decisions. After losing over 30 friends and family due to their bad decisions, Mero decided to reach out to students and encourage them to lead fulfilling lives. In 2007, he started the non-profit, Champion of Choices.
Mike McClane, Chief of Clinic Operations stated, “After seeing his videos and literature, I really wanted to try to get him in to speak with the students before school was out. We were fortunate to manage to schedule him and to find this window of opportunity with the school’s schedules”.
