Commencement ceremonies are set to take place tomorrow at Eastern Illinois University. More than 1,700 students will be taking part in the ceremonies. The ceremonies will be held in Lantz Arena and guest tickets are required to be admitted.
Four ceremonies are scheduled for Saturday. Each will have a guest speaker that will deliver the “Charge to the Class”. The ceremonies will take place as follows:
- 9:00am: Commencement for students of the College of Sciences. Guest Speaker- Candace Smith-Tucker, director of the Sections Department at the District of Columbia Bar. Marshal- Professor of Chemistry, Barbara A. Lawrence. Special Recognition for 2017 Winner of Eastern’s Distinguished Faculty Award, Linda Ghent, Professor of Economics.
- 12:00pm: Commencement for students of the College of Arts and Humanities and the School of Continuing Education. Guest Speaker- Candace Smith-Tucker. Marshal- Professor of Philosophy, Gary E. Aylesworth.
- 3:00pm: Commencement for students of the College of Education and Professional Studies. Guest Speaker- Don Boerema, President and CEO of CommandScape. Marshal- Professor of Kinesiology and Sports Studies, Kevin G. Hussey.
- 6:00pm: Commencement for students of the Lumpkin College of Business and Applied Sciences. Guest Speaker- Don Boerema. Marshal- Associate Professor of the School of Technology, David W. Melton.
