Two people were injured in an accident that occurred on Route 33 just east of Newton, late Sunday night.
According to a press release from the Illinois State Police, 58 year old, Robin L. Miller, of Robinson and a passenger, 49 year old, Anthony Litzelman, of West Liberty were traveling westbound on Route 33 when a heavy downpour occurred. Miller told officers that Litzelman allegedly grabbed the steering wheel, which caused the vehicle to exit the roadway. The vehicle then traveled an estimated 200 feet before it struck two trees and came to a rest.
Robin Miller was transported to Crawford Memorial Hospital and Anthony Litzelman was transported to Carle Hospital in Champaign for treatment. Charges are currently pending.
