The Illinois State Police District 12 recently released the results from a Roadside Safety Check. The check was held in Fayette County from late night on March 17th to early morning on March 18th. District 12 police officers issued 9 written warnings and made 4 arrests/citations during the check. The following is the total law enforcement activity that was taken per violation during the Roadside Safety Check.

The Roadside Safety Check was held to keep Fayette County roads safe by removing driver’s that were under the influence of drugs/alcohol from the roads. Driving while impaired from alcohol/drugs is a major factor in more than 30% of the fatal accidents in Illinois. Across the United States, nearly 10,000 people lose their lives each year from impaired driving. The Illinois State Police District 12 is reminding drivers to “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over”.
