Two people were injured in an accident that occurred on Interstate 70, approximately a half mile west of St. Elmo, just before 8:30am on Wednesday.
According to a press release from the Illinois State Police, 48 year old, Sirena Cohen, of Springfield, Ohio and her 14 year old, female passenger, of St. Louis were traveling westbound in the passing lane on Interstate 70. Cohen veered into the driving lane, striking the rear driver side of an unknown semi-tractor/trailer. Cohen then left the roadway, into the median, travelingĀ up the eastbound and westbound sides. Cohen’s vehicle overturned, coming to a rest upright and facing eastbound.
Sirena Cohen was transported by ARCH Air Medical to Springfield Memorial Hospital. Cohen’s female passenger was transported by ARCH Air Medical to Cardinal Glennon Hospital in St. Louis.
