(Chicago, IL) — Governor Rauner heads downstate today for day two of a fly-around that he insists is not the kickoff of his reelection campaign. At the first of ten stops over the two days, Rauner stood among food plant workers in Bloomingdale and claimed it’s not about politics. He said the trip is about meeting the people of Illinois in person. Rauner admitted though that his trip is being paid for by his campaign fund, not from state resources. When asked why by reporters, Rauner responded, “Why not?” Rauner’s formal remarks sounded his familiar themes of the need for a truly balanced state budget coupled with pro-business reforms.
