The Altamont School Board made moves regarding personnel in their meeting on Monday, April 10th.
As part of old business, the Board extended the contract of Mr. Jerry Tkachuk for four more years. The Board then went into a closed session to discuss the retirement of two staff members, as well as the employment of new staff members. The Board accepted letters of resignation from Mrs. Melanie Thornton and Mr. Jeff Fritchtnitch. They then decided to employ Mr. Jeff Nelson as custodian, Mr. Jeremy Meyers as a bus driver, Mrs. Courtnie Mullen as District Technology Integration Specialist, and Miss. Stephanie Zimmer as Agriculture teacher.
Additionally, the Board received an update on building and grounds from Superintendent Fritchtnitch. He informed them that the tractor used to prepare the ball fields and mow ditches is now inoperable. Several mower dealers were visited to look for a used tractor and information was submitted to the Board for an intent to purchase. Also, Superintendent Fritchtnitch informed the Board that he had received a letter from Precision Lawn Care regarding the bids for lawn care. He also gave the Board a quote from Irwin Bleacher Company for the replacement of the black chair seats.
Additional items covered by the Altamont School Board are:
- Discussed quotes for a walk-in freezer for the high school.
- Approved early graduation and the Lady Indians summer basketball camp.
- Received a report from the district librarian that a total of 25,000 books were checked out in the grade school last year.
