(Springfield, IL) — Illinois lawmakers are moving forward with a bill designed to crack down on gun crimes. The state Senate approved a measure yesterday that would raise the minimum sentences for repeat gun offenders. An earlier version of the plan stalled last month despite receiving support from Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson. The bill now goes to the House for a vote.
