EFFINGHAM — Two Effingham Park District Board seats were filled during the Consolidated Election Tuesday. One seat was filled by, now second term member, Russ Sehy. The other, vacated by long-time member and Board President David McDevitt, was filled by Jason Semple.
Semple, who works at Dieterich Bank, grew up in Effingham and in participated Park District activities and sports growing up. Now that he’s raising a family, his three daughters do the same. He’s looking forward to getting to know Park District Staff and his fellow commissioners. “At this point I’m just looking forward to kind of getting my feet on the ground, meeting the rest of the commissioners and employees and building on the groundwork that’s already been established and keeping a great park district for a great community,” Semple said.
Semple discusses his goals in serving on the Park Board.
Russ Sehy was reelected for his second six-year term on the Board. Sehy is also an Effingham native and works for John Boos & Co. He has three children. He said that his experience on the board has been “great.” His goal is to ensure that the Workman Sports Complex continues to be successful and to advance plans of building a dog park in Effingham.
Both will be officially sworn in at the Board’s May meeting.
