RAMSEY — Residents in Ramsey will soon be able to buy a drink within village corporate limits. The question of “Shall the Sale at Retail of Alcoholic Liquor be prohibited in the Village of Ramsey?” was voted down with 163 no votes against 103 yes votes. Current Village President Claude Willis, who did not seek reelection Tuesday, said that it will be the first time, since prohibition, that liquor sales will be allowed in the Village. He also said that the question has been on the ballot before, but hasn’t been voted down until now. The Village will now have go to their lawyer and draw up an ordinance that details rules and regulations. Willis attributed the vote’s results to population changes in the Village.
Chris Wall will take over as next Village President of Ramsey winning Tuesday’s election against Dawn Cole and Roger Corrington with 149 votes.
