(Springfield, IL) — Governor Rauner is calling on the Illinois General Assembly to take action on the proposed I-55 project. Rauner’s plan would allow private companies to build toll lanes along congested portions of the expressway and collect some of the revenue from drivers. He claims Democratic leaders are blocking the project. House Speaker Michael Madigan pushed back against the proposal, accusing Rauner of trying to help his wealthy friends.
